Hi all --
Yesterday I just got my mobile reader, which I have decided to use as my
phone as well, to minimize the clutter I carry around with me.
I actually bit the bullet and bought wayfinder access + talks along with the
reader, but didn't know before I got it that use of wayfinder also requires
activating internet on the phone and subscribing for that service -- an
additional $24.99 per month on at&t wireless. That took me by surprise, but
I decided to try it a month when we go traveling this summer and for once be
aware of where I am, and even be a navigator...
(I don't have any experience with gps systems, except that my mother got one
for her car last year, which malfunctioned and said we had arrived at our
location when we were in the middle of nowhere and had no idea where we
were...lol -- think it was a satellite dead zone...)

Anyway, as for a preliminary report on the mobile reader, I absolutely love
it. The first thing I snapped a picture of was a letter printed on my
printer, which it read flawlessly, despite being held awkwardly in front the
phone. It also has been reading labels around the house with little
problem.
Once however, it did get into an infinite loop and never stopped processing.
I had to cancel and retake the picture.

The response time on this phone is exceptionally good (except for that
infinite loop). It has something like 2gb memory. The keys on the phone
are also raised bars so it is much easier to feel the keypad than on my old
phone, an N73.
Processing time for pictures in the reader is a little faster than the
classic unit.

If anyone has not yet decided whether to trade in the classic reader for the
mobile reader, consider this a glowing recommendation of the N82 and the
current software.

Happy reading all!
