You have to call your service provider and give hime the IMEI number (also 
called the serial number) of your phone and the phone number associated with 
the sim card. You can get the IMEI number either by taking the battery out 
nad haveing a sighted person read it, or alternately (and more easily) you 
can get the IMEI number by typing *#06#
If you have talks or mobilespeak on your phone then it will will speak the 
number.
You can reach your service provider most easily by calling 611 and asking to 
talk to customer service.

hello,
  i just received my phone, and i am going to be using it as a reader and a 
phone. but first things first. i've put in my sym card from my other phone, 
and have not yet been able to receive a call. i just want to know if i need 
to take the phone out of some mode in order to be able to receive calls?
