Hi Janice, I've had my READER for almost 1 & 1/2 years. I am a shopper & a traveller, so I use my Reader to read sale catalogs, price tags, travel brochures & all that stuff that usually didn't get read by us. The literature in hotels, the Disney travel guide & countless other fun things! Welcome aboard! Vickie

Welcome Janice;
I just got my reader in July at the NFB National Convention. It is a
great little device, but I am having some trouble with it identifying
addresses on envelopes. It is the return address, the most important
one, this the most problem. I have a fealing it could be logos that
might be the problem. Since I am only 5 feet tall, it is a little bit
hard to tell if I am actually 16 inches from the item. I have tried
sitting and tried standing.
Another funny thing is, the 2 labels are on the left and there is white
on medium blue on the right. It is a thin band of blue, but the reader
will not pick it up. I am excited to start reading foods, but I need to
get this mail problem solved. It is the main reason I got the reader.
I want to be able to find my bills and important mail from the junk
mail.
One lady was able to define a spice jar with her reader.
Jim gashal told us about taking a picture of the sign on the side of an
ATM machine. It was lite on a colored background.
I might have more in my reader folder.

Subject: [Reader-users] Self introduction

Hello Everybody,

Just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is
Janice Jeang, I am originally from the Houston, TX area. Currently
residing in Chicago,
IL. I just moved to Chicago recently and it has been very chaotic.

I was lucky enough to have my KNFB reader with me, for the move, and it
has been a heaven sent. I was not only able to identify all the
miscellaneous cleaners
I own, to clean my new place, but was able to distinguish a whole slew
of random products, that I had completely forgotten I even had. The
reader came
in very handy when I needed to read the instructions, to build my new
entertainment center, not to mention how to essemble the chair that I am
currently
sitting in.

I am curious to hear other's stories about their readers, and what
everybody mainly uses their readers for. I am curious to hear what
everybody else uses
their readers for, what are the success stories? I hope that everybody
has a great Labor Day, and look forward to all the posts on the list.

Cheers,

Janice Jeang
