[Reader-users] saving files to a computer

The reason you get that dialogue is that there are several different
file types on the card so Windows needs to ask you how you wish to
handle them.

Strangely enough, on my windows XP pro machine, when I insert the card
into
the slot on the front (after the machine has booted up), my laptop
reacts in
the same way as if I'd just inserted either a flash drive, or inserted
a
CD - and even brings up that autoplay dialogue offering me a list of
options
to carry out.
Don't think I've specifically made any real setting changes apart from
once
accidentally setting the startup option for the CD-ROM drive to always
play
music CDs and then having to go to that drive's property pages, find
the
advanced page, and there 'reset' that option to ask me every time, but
anyway.
Suppose it really does differ from machine/driver to machine/driver
though.
FWIW, I think that 'work' machine is either a Dell or Acer (can't
remember
which at this stage).
The only other possible difference (and not necessarily true), is that
I'm
an administrator on that machine so it's not like I'm only 'allowed'
to do
certain things including running/accessing certain 'new' files.
Stay well

I have had the same problem with my XP computer, when I put it in my
Vista
the card is there. But the other problem I have had is the file being
given
a name that the computer does not understand and can't open or will
not
delete. It is not the date it is somekind of weird figures and lines.
I do
have the date set correctly and I am saving after every so many
pictures
when doing a large document.

Hi:
Thank you for the tips. I did try to get the computer to read the
card by
using a card reader, but unfortunately, neither Win98 nor Win-XP-Pro
would
even acknowledge the card. The card reader itself is shown in the
"my
computer" section but it doesn't see the card.
This isn't the first time I have had problems with Kingston sd
cards; I
have two new 4gb Kingston cards that I can't use for the same
reason.
Has anyone ever run into a problem like this? Is it possible to send
the
files from the knfb reader directly to the computer via usb?
Thanks in advance.
