[Reader-users] dead battery and problems

Well, my friend's husband has some sight and wasn't able to recalibrate hers
successfully. I don't know how hard it is to see whatever is on the screen.
But, her friend, who is sighted, did it in a matter of minutes.

It depends on how low the battery is when you unplug it as to how long it
will last before completely discharging. I can't say, exactly where you can
find the instructions about recalibrating, but I know it's there.

Seems like there has been a rash of Readers being left unplugged for an
extended time. I'm just wondering if people aren't using their readers
daily or what's happening to cause them to be left long enough to discharge?

Hi Cindy;
I have the same problem. Are they in their own book or in the main
book. I do not remember seeing them. If I read them to a sighted
person, will they be able to follow the steps? How long can the reader
go, with out use and any charge before the battery will die. I
unplugged it Wednesday, late afternoon, to pack for state convention.
When I took it out Saturday night, it was dead. My friend Tom Bickford
came to my room to check it out. He pressed the reset and said I needed
to recalibrate it. I wonder why they made it so hard. I thought it had
gotten seperated from the camera, again, from the travel. Anyone with
some sight on this list, can you recalibrate your own reader? Are the
dots big enough that I might be able to see them?
Thanks for any help.

Terry Powers

You'll need a sighted person to help you recalibrate it. The
instructions are in the manual.

Hi all, my reader will not talk or turn off. Could someone tell me who
to
call to get some help with this problem. The power cord got disconnected
and
I did not know it until the battery died.
The Lady Lou
