[Reader-users] reading cans and can'ts

Hello:

To read a can I first find the label seam. Most often the pretty
picture does not scan well so I try to shoot the camera the end
of the label, the part that ends up tucked under the start of the
label is the ending of the end; so I use that as the edge of the
shot.

I like to put the can on it's side and hold the camera a good 16
inches away. Sometimes I get nothing, but most of the time I get
enough to know what I've got - soup or cranberries.
