Does she have any usable vision? There are magnifiers that may help. There are also bar scanners available which can tell one what the product is and in many cases can give package directions.
It might be helpful to contact an agency for the blind or a blindness organization such as the NFB. It would help if your mother could evaluate different equipment to see what will work for her.
