[Reader-users] Is it really necessary to have portraitorrientation?

Hi James:

I'm afraid I completely lost you on that part of your message below where
you suggest that the field of view report should do more with pictures. You
express that this will be forthcoming in a software update.

I really don't know exactly what you mean. The purpose for the field of
view report is to indicate if the camera is seeing all of the page. It is
not and has never been intended to describe the layout of the page or the
pictures that may be on the page.

I would generally say, if we can figure out a way to make the field of view
report a bit shorter, that is what we should do. Remember, when you are
using the field of view report you are generally holding the reader above
the page. Most people want less, rather than more, information so they
don't have to hold the Reader while listening to a lengthy statement about
what is being seen.

Thanks, J. G.

Hi Jim,

Very interesting to read your message. I only ever use it in really critical
situations and try to aim for 50 or more percent. Like I said in our oflist
message, magazines are useless with the field of view because it never takes
into account pictures and things like that. Let's hope the next update can
add more info to that report.

All the best

-James-
