Hi Nicki:

The part which is the heaviest is the base.  Unfold the legs so the base
forms a square with one open end.  Place the unfolded base on a desk or
table with the open side toward you.  There should be a side on your left
and a side on your right.  The remaining side runs across in front of you.
You should then find a mounting bracket which sticks up from the top side of
the base at a 90 degree angle and should be tilted slightly toward you.  If
you feel this mounting piece, you will notice a slot on the very top.  This
slot holds the vertical arm which rises up from the base and has the reader
cradle on its other end.  

The piece which is lighter is called the vertical arm and Reader cradle.
The arm folds in the middle.  You should begin by unfolding the arm to its
full length.  You should also unfold the Reader cradle, mounted to one end
of the arm, so the cradle and the arm form an angle with one another.  

The cradle must be positioned to hold the Reader so it looks down toward the
table or desk and is aimed to cover the area between the right and left hand
legs of the base.  You should insert the end of the arm opposite from the
cradle into the mounting bracket on the base, being sure that the cradle
will be positioned to hold the Reader above the open square between the
right and left hand legs of the base.  You can be sure that the cradle is
positioned correctly by looking for the side of the cradle which has a
cut-out edge.  This edge should be on the left hand side of the cradle.  The
reason for the cut-out is to allow you to reach the on/off button on the
left side of the camera when the Reader is in the correct shooting position.

Press the vertical arm down into the slot in the mounting bracket as far as
it goes after you are sure that the cradle is looking down between the right
and left hand legs of the base.  The stand is now assembled and ready to
hold the Reader.  

Finally, when you place the Reader in the cradle, be sure to have it resting
in a level position looking down over the viewing area.  You can test your
alignment by using an 8-1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper and placing it between
the right and left hand legs of the base.  You can align the sheet with the
right hand leg of the base and about an inch down from the top.  Once you
have done this, try the field of view report.  Chances are the Reader will
report that all four edges are visible.  Move the paper as needed if they
are not.  

The point of the stand is that anything you place within the viewing area
between the right and left hand legs of the base will be seen by the Reader
and read.  Your exact alignment is really not important except to check it
for the first time to be sure that you can see all four edges.  The stand is
designed to align the Reader correctly so you can take a perfect picture
every time.  Good Luck.

HI all, 

 

For anyone who has the stand, I just finally got mine today.  It came in two
pieces, and we're not quite sure which piece goes where or how it goes
together. 

Any info or instructions anyone can give would be really helpful at this
point.  Thanks.  One piece is bigger than the other and looks like it has
rubber

legs on it, if that helps.  Thanks.
