Terry,
It seems to me that there is enough specificity in the specs that Jim
Gashel gave on this list that you probably could go to the Radioshack
web site and order on line. Though I have heard that site is not the
most accessible, I have reviewed it, (though not recently) and found it
not too terrible.

Susan;
What company did you get the speaker from, in case I do not have any
success with Radio shack?

I bought a $20 speaker at the convention. If these others are so cheap,
why did I buy this one?

Terry and all:
Here is information about a very small speaker unit that works very well
with the Kurzweil-National Federation of the Blind Reader. Please note
that this unit operates on a single double A battery. You will also
need an adapter in order for the plug on the speaker to complete the
connection inside the headphone jack of the Reader. The identifying
information for the speaker and adapter is shown below:
1. The T-Speaker produced by iSymphony improves volume for private
listening. The tiny portable speaker is only about 2.5 inches by 1 inch
wide and 1 inch deep. Plug the audio adapter into the earphone jack of
the
K-NFB Reader, then plug the speaker into the adapter. Requires 1 AA
battery. Radio Shack $19.99 (Model #T-SPKR1B)
2. Audio adapter for the T-Speaker: Gold-plated stereo-to-mono
audio
adapter; accepts 1/8" stereo plug; fits 1/8 inch mono jack. Radio Shack
$3.99 (ID #274-882).
Thanks, J. G.

Subject: [Braillenote] speakers
Hi Everyone;
A while back, someone wrote about a battery operated speaker. I am
looking for a single, battery operated speaker that will fit the KNFB
reader. I am pretty sure it was on this list that the speaker was
mentioned. If you have any imfo about this, please send it to the group
or to,
powerst at mail.nih.gov
So far, in stores, all I can find are double speakers, not singles. I
think the one mentioned here was also folding.
Thanks for any help.
