I actually have a stand ordered but it hasn't yet arrived. I expected it to be
delayed a bit since Jim Gashel had said the stands would begin shipping this
week.
The stand will help in two ways: it will free up our hands when reading
multiple pages, and it will help train newer users on proper distance for
focusing the camera. Once you get the range, I'm sure it becomes much easier.
In my evolution over the years of assistive devices, I was, at one time, very
dependent on the Optacon and used it extensively for reading my computer
screen. I am a programmer so I spend most of my day at the computer. When
screen readers became a practical option, I purchased Window-Eyes and thought
I'd never get used to programming that way. An encouraging fellow on one of
the blind lists told me that eventually, I'd not only get used to the screen
reader, but I'd prefer it because I would become much faster with it than I was
with the Optacon. Alas, that did happen, and now I am programming exclusively
using a screen reader.
Now, with the KNFB Reader, I am once again transitioning and I am confident
that the same thing will happen. I already know that when I get a good
picture, the text is pretty accurate and reading is much faster than with other
methods.

Take care everyone and have a blessed day.

Joe
