I have the best success reading currency with the bill positioned so 
that the long sides are vertical like the bill was standing on one of 
the short sides. The correct distance from the camera seems to be 
about 16 inches.

My electrical connection to the Reader is so loose and unstable that when I
use the reader while it is plugged in, my reader constantly switches back
and forth between the message that it is charging and that it has been
disconnected.
