As replied to Mike Freeman:

I needed to reset it to get the voice back, and there was a loose connection 
between the camera and the PDA, which was fixable by a little twiddling.  He
also told me how to load the memory cards which I was a little unsure of as 
I'm not familiar with SD cards, and I was not aware that there was both a 
compact
flash card and an SD card slot in the unit.
So that was all.
No damage or defects or anything.

Hi all -- Jim Gashel called me today and worked out my reader problems,
which turned out to be minor.  Thanks Jim! I am again excited about the
reader.
That is going beyond the call of duty, doing service calls on Sunday, but I
am quite glad to have it reading again.
Just thought I'd mention it.
