[Reader-users] Reader Takes The Guesswork Out

Today, while working with one of my computer students, the printer only did
11 out of 13 pages of a document. Instead of guessing what had happened, we
used the reader to identify the missing pages. When we tried to get the
other two to print, nothing happened. Ultimately, after trying twice, we
determined
that the bottom paper tray was empty. After loading paper and resetting the
printer, it printed six pages. Although we guessed that it had suddenly
responded
to all three of our requests for those two pages, beginning with the
original whole document, since that printer is connected to a network of
computers,
it could have been that, once it was online, someone else's job had come
through. It was gratifying to be able to confirm what actually happened.

The student in question is in her 80's and is losing her sight. She was
impressed not only that we could figure out what had happened ourselves, but
also
that it took very little time to do it.
