Have you thought of shortening the strap and putting it over the handle
of your suitcase while youtravel. This way it will be connected to your
suitcase and still be protected. There are rectangular key chanes that
screw to open and close. You could use something like this or even a
lock to secure the case to your suitecase. When you want, then you can
lengthen the strap and cary it over your sholder with your purse. When
I go back and forth to work, I use one of those large canvas bags sold
the last 2 years at convention. It is big enough for my m-power,
reader, mail, my crafts and my reader handbooks.
You could always put your reader, purse and more in a bag like that.

I put my Reader in a tote bag and just carry it on so that I'm sure how

will be treated, but I do not carry it everywhere in it's own bag - just
takes too much space.
