Hi Steve;
Thanks for your message. I have another question. I am trying to
diside where to place my stand at home and at work.
Lets take work first. Under the cabinet, over my desk, I have a light I
can turn on and a sealing light above. How much light do I need.
Is it alright to use it at home in a room that gets sun light? I am
trying to get an idea how much light the camera needs to get a good
picture and where the light should be coming from, if I have a choice.
Thanks for any help.
Terry Powers

Terry,

When I was testing the reader, I was able to read labels on a number of
bottles of wine. I generally took the picture with the bottle upright,
but I also was successful
with the bottle laying down. Within limits, of course, the further back
you are, the better chance that you will get more of the image, and
possibly the curvature will
have less of an effect. An interesting thing that can happen, though,
is that items behind the bottle can be picked up so be sure the area
behind the bottle is clear.
Maybe this has changed since I was testing, but a pattern in the
background can also confuse, or at least slow the recognition process.
This can become more of
an issue if you happen to lay a bottle down on a tablecloth that has a
pattern, for example. It also probably makes sense to not take a
picture of a standing bottle
with a light source behind it. In other words, if the reader is facing
a window or lamp when it is aimed at the bottle, this probably would
negatively affect results.
