Hello Graham,
What version of the reader software do you have?
If you have version 3.1.5 then yes, you might want to reinstall 
the software.
I am wondering, did you purchase your reader through the NFB or 
another dealer, if through the NFB then I would recommend that 
you contact the Tech support number and maybe they can help as 
well.
