[Reader-users] KNFB Reader and Digital Displays

Hello Tracy and listers,

    Obtaining weights on squirming and riggling dogs and pups would be
difficult whether the person is blind or sighted. If the scale holds the
reading until a, "Clear" command is issued using the reader shouldn't be a
problem assuming it will read the digital read-out. Ultimately a system such
as HAL or the ability of devices like the dog scale to send this information
directly to a PC and enter it in the appropriate place in the dog's record
would be the best approach and would make for a more efficient employee and
would eliminate the need to have expensive devices of this kind in what I'll
call potentially technology hostile environments.

It might be hard to get a dog to sit still long enough to get the reader
lined up and take the picture, especially if the dog is a pup.  I know I
have some trouble getting my dog to sit still on the scale long enough for
the vet to get her weight, and the vet is quicker at reading than I am
with the Reader.
