Within the past week, my reader has helped me acknowledge that my printer was out of ink, determine that the new cartridge was working, and identify the number on the address labels I have so I could create a document from which to print on them.  

One thing that I couldn't get it to do was to read the numbers on the printer cartridges.  Since I got $6 for taking them in for recycling when I got new ones, that, too, turned out okay.
