Hi Monica:
The solution for a different but compatible adapter is interesting.
Please post the make, model, and other relevant specifications so others
on this list might obtain the same adapter if needed.

Subject: [Reader-users] Not Quite Tight Charger Plug
I was interested in Evelyn's comment about the charger plug not
staying plugged in. My college student daughter temporarily gave up on
her KNFB Reader after discovering it had not charged overnight even
though she had plugged it in. When she brought it home I plugged it in
and it charged just fine, but the adapter plug and the pin on the PDA
don't fit tightly. The slightest movement of the cable causes the plug
to partially or fully fall off the PDA. It's fine at home where it can
charge undisturbed, but in a crowded dorm room where the charger shares
surge protector space with other gizmos the charger's cable is more
likely to have another cable rub against it causing the delicate
connection to break. I concluded it's not so bad that it's really a
warranty issue because it works just fine for me; but not for my low
vision, harried daughter living in a small dormroom.
So, this evening I took the Reader to my local Radio Shack and
explained the problem. The very helpful young man produced a fistful of
connector ends. After trying a bunch of them, we did find one that has
a much tighter fit than the original charger. Of course, for the new
connector, I had to buy the companion charger with the correct power
specifications that fits the new connector plug. Hopefully, when she
goes back to school, she'll be able to really start to use it.
