[Reader-users] a bit disappointed

Jim,
I think there could be one of two problems with the CDs, or a combination of
both.
First. it may be that there is glare from the shrink rap and the plastic CD
case, which makes it difficult for the reader to take the picture.
Secondly, many CDs have different colors and are often light print on a dark
background, which the reader won't do. Also, the writing is often very
stylized, which could cause difficulty. So, to answer you question, I have
not had success in reading a CD still in the packaging.

Subject: [Reader-users] a bit disappointed
Hi guys,
I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed, because when push came to shove,
the reader didn't work so well for me. However, I'm not giving up on it yet
because I know you guys will give me good advice. So, here's the deal.
First, have people gotten the reader to read CDs that are unopened, or in
other words that are still in the shrinkwrap?
I'm trying to get some final Christmas gifts organized so that they can go
to the right people, and some of them are CDs. With three different ones,
in all kinds of positions, I keep hearing "Text not found." I know it's not
the reader because I read a piece of paper fine. I'd just hate to ask one
of my sighted friends, "Excuse me, but one of these is your gift. Can you
read these off until you get to yours?" <big smile>
Seriously though, does the reader have a problem with shrinkwrap? I kind of
figured it would see right through it or something.
Now, for those of you who are saying to yourselves, "Why doesn't he just go
ask someone else?" Well, because the folks I'd ask for things like this in
a pinch are gone for the weekend and nobody is readily available right now.
Jim
