Can you say that again wioth dofferent words? MILE. It sounds as if the camera can be used just to take pictures but I don't think it responds unless the pda is active.

oh in case any of you wonder what the big round button not to be named
on the camera in the reader manual is, it's to take pictures when the
camera is used alone.
Something else good to know. If you hold the camera with the opposide of
the lens facing you the side hidden in the case, to the right of the
small display is a slider switch. You want to make sure that is pushed
down, or the camera won't be in the proper mode to work with the reader.
Something to remember when troubleshooting if the camera won't respond.
