[Reader-users] ocr engine in the reader

Hi Jim!
I will have the Reader ready for pick up on Thursday or Friday of the upcoming week.

Alison said you might be able to send me a replacement at the same time. I will also send in the CD that we talked about with all of the pictures on it.

I spoke to Ms. Rogers on Tuesday about the purchase of the reader and she stated that they will let me know by 01012007. If they do not purchase it by 010107 I will be receiving a student loan on 0101 or 010207 and will pay for it in full at that time.

I did not notice a problem with the charger until we recalibrated the unit. The first time that the unit was calibrated we could not turn off the unit. The Palm pilot would not turn off nor would it reset. We then left it unplugged for two days to let it uncharge so that it would turn off. After that we tried to recharge the unit and recalibrated it. To charge the unit I had to hold the plug pressing tightly on it to keep the box from beeping. I got it charged to %100 and scanned some mail and it seemed to work well. However, the charge will not stay unless I sit there and press on the plug.

Thank you.
Hope

.Hi Hope:
.
.This is a problem we need to fix. You should not be able to hear the
.high pitched tone in the transformer box when the Reader is connected to
.external power. If you are hearing that tone, it means that the
.connection is not being made.
.
.You should press the power plug into the jack as firmly as you can. I
.realize that this may not always make a secure connection, but that's
.about all you can do temporarily. You should listen to the transformer
.box and wiggle the plug until you hear the high pitched tone go away.
.At that point you should switch the Reader on to check if it reports
.that the system is connected to external power. This will tell you that
.power is flowing to the unit, and it should come up to a full charge,
.provided you don't disturb the plug once you have made a firm
.connection.
.
.We need to replace a part in your reader to correct this problem.
.Everything I have described above is only temporary. The Reader will
.need to be returned to us to achieve a perminent fix. Please contact
.Alison Hammerbacher at the NFB at extension 2222 to arrange a pickup. I
.am sending her a copy of this message so she is aware of the situation.

.Hi Jim!
.My Reader is working properly now accept for the charger. I made sure
.that the Palm was solidly plugged in and it will not get a full charge.
.Also, the square piece that connects the charger is continuously
.beeping.
.Thank you.
