[Reader-users] ocr engine in the reader

Hi Hope:

This is a problem we need to fix. You should not be able to hear the
high pitched tone in the transformer box when the Reader is connected to
external power. If you are hearing that tone, it means that the
connection is not being made.

You should press the power plug into the jack as firmly as you can. I
realize that this may not always make a secure connection, but that's
about all you can do temporarily. You should listen to the transformer
box and wiggle the plug until you hear the high pitched tone go away.
At that point you should switch the Reader on to check if it reports
that the system is connected to external power. This will tell you that
power is flowing to the unit, and it should come up to a full charge,
provided you don't disturb the plug once you have made a firm
connection.

We need to replace a part in your reader to correct this problem.
Everything I have described above is only temporary. The Reader will
need to be returned to us to achieve a perminent fix. Please contact
Alison Hammerbacher at the NFB at extension 2222 to arrange a pickup. I
am sending her a copy of this message so she is aware of the situation.

Hi Jim!
My Reader is working properly now accept for the charger. I made sure
that the Palm was solidly plugged in and it will not get a full charge.
Also, the square piece that connects the charger is continuously
beeping.
Thank you.
Hope
