Dear reader,
We hereby wish to inform you of a number of shows in the USA in which we will be participating. Read more about NRB and CSUN.
We are pleased, that the webbox for the reading disabled is steadily gaining more interest thanks to its interesting concept. The immediate access to cross media content is what makes it so unique. Not only talking books, but also magazines, newspapers, plays, internet radio, church sermons, podcasts, spoken sub-titling of TV programs and the simultaneous translation of live TV programs into a foreign language are possible. Our partner in Norway is doing a trial with spoken TV-subtitling, whereas in Finland the FFVI is testing the concept of a daily spoken newspaper accessible on the internet/intranet not only by PC but also with our webbox, which does not require a PC!
NRB
You can be sure that as NRB member we will not miss this year's National Religious Broadcasting convention in Nashville TN, USA! It will be held March 8-11, 2008 and already it appears to be even larger than last year.
The solution we will show is our renowned ChurchWebRadio already in use in more than 20.000 households. Our Church Platform and ChurchWebRadio products and services will be demonstrated. Our three partners ChristianRadio.org, SermonAudio.com and Russian Radio (TVVideoland) will demonstrate their services on our booth.
NRB 2008 Exposition is the largest marketplace dedicated to Christian media professionals. Over 300 vendors will showcase their wares on 135,000 square feet of exhibit space.
For a full demonstration of our ChurchWebRadio and Church Platform please visit our booth 877+879. Click here for a free exhibit hall pass. Click here for more info.
CSUN Conference 2008 for Technology & Persons with Disabilities
Solutions Radio is one of the exhibitors at the CSUN Conference 2008 for Technology & Persons with Disabilities. The conference is held from March 10-15, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. Werner Haan, CEO of Solutions Radio, will also be one of the keynote speakers at the conference. The topic he will present is: Innovative on-line hardware player for cross medial content. It will be in the Marriott hotel, Washington ballroom on Friday, March 14, 2008 8:00 - 9:00 AM). Be sure to come and listen!
CSUN is the longest-running and largest annual university sponsored conference on technology and persons with disabilities. CSUN 2008 is a comprehensive, international conference, where all technologies across all ages; disabilities; levels of education and training; employment; and independent living are addressed. It is the largest conference of its kind!
Please visit our booth #310 to get a full demonstration of our ORIONWebbox , which is an acronym for On-line Reading and Information ON demand. The Stationlist portal can also be viewed.
Kansas Audio-Radio Network receive grant for WebRadios
The Kansas Audio-Reader Network is a reading and information service for blind, visually impaired, and print disabled individuals in Kansas and western Missouri. Audio-Reader's original program is a Radio Reading Service for anyone who has difficulty reading standard printed material. Broadcasting 24 hours a day from studios at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Audio-Reader uses a large pool of volunteers to read daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and books, as well as news, interviews and other programs dealing with disability and aging issues.
Kansas Audio-Reader Network has decided to add our WebRadio to enhance the wide range of free services they provide. The WebRadio plugs directly into a telephone line or broadband connection - no computer needed - and will have a customised playlist, which streams Audio-Reader programs and archived programs / Podcasts.
Launch of Christian Radio.org
Solutions Radio is proud to announce the ChristianRadio portal. Via this portal users of a WebRadio can search in a database of more than 250 Christian Broadcasters and more than 600 Churches. Listeners can subscribe to their favourite Church and/or speaker and automatically receive the latest Sermons on their WebRadio. Although it is webbased the listener does not need a PC to listen to this content. New content can be programmed remotely for the receivers. And broadcasters have a tool to control their content offering.
ORION Trial in Helsinki
The Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired (FFVI) has established a Daisy on-line delivery trial project. The trial incorporates both PC based solutions as well as Hardware reading systems. The ORIONWebbox will be part of the hardware reading system. The ORIONWebbox is an on-line player, which can access Daisy and non-Daisy content.
It is very easy and intuitive to use and was specifically designed for the elderly and those not so savvy with a PC. This is particularly important, as about 80% of the visually impaired are elderly people! Participants for the trial have already been selected and the intention is to have a number of daily Finnish newspapers available, using a TTS converter. As newspapers are topical and relate current affairs it is important that they can be listened to immediately. Although it is more pleasant to hear a human voice this becomes rather costly in the case of a daily newspaper. Therefore one of the aims of the trial is to assess the acceptability of an electronic voice. Simultaneously the cost-effectiveness of an on-line service will be tested.. As the trial progresses more Daisy content will be added. By the end of April user feedback will have been collected and the trial completed and evaluated by August 2008.
