[Oagdu] Lots of work to do in 2017

Hi all,
I hope that you all had a very enjoyable holiday season and wishing you a wonderful New Year. As hard as it is to believe, our first Oagdu meeting of 2017 will take place this Sunday, January 8th! I will send the call-in number as the weekend gets closer. But, I just wanted to make sure you all had the date on your calendars.
Also, we will be working on setting up the committees for 2017, and I urge you to consider serving on one or more committees this coming year. Here are the committees and a bit of info on each one. Let me know if you have specific questions. If you'd like to serve on a committee, you can let me know via email, or on the call Sunday.
Thanks!

1.       Gavel: Current Chair is Debbie Baker, but she wants to step down. The Gavel committee chair keeps a written record of the activities the members do (spreading awareness about guide dogs and blindness) throughout the year. We then review all of the info in the fall when we work on the Gavel Report.

2.       Legislative: Current Chair is Marianne Denning. The legislative committee is currently working on changing the wording of the Ohio service dog law, to make it more congruent with the ADA law.

3.       Education: The previous chair was Aleeha Dudley, who has moved to Louisiana. The education committee has a lot of work to do. We started working on a Power Point presentation to help educate police officers and first responders about blindness etiquette and guide dogs. More education tasks can also be expanded upon this year.

4.       Fundraising: This committee works on brainstorming and creating fundraisers for our division.



Again, please consider serving on one or more committee this year; we greatly appreciate your help!
