I think you are properly maintaining the feet of your dog, and your dog won't suffer from being burned. Regardless whether or not your dogs will suffer burns, black top is extremely hot. Particularly if it requires being stood on for any length of time. I use "tough foot"
http://www.gundogsupply.com/7-95.html to protect my personal feet. I suppose, whatever yoiu use to protect your own bare feet. When walking with your dog on black top would satisfy for both you and your dog. Yet, I still have burned my feet. One must remain diligent in any case. As people sometimes forget.

Angel, thanks for bringing up this topic…
So, what do people use to help protect their dog’s feet? I have used the Ruffwear booties in the summer and winter to help protect their feet. But, I still worry that the booties in the summer would cause them to get too hot. I’ve heard of people using Musher’s Secret in the summer, but does this provide adequate protection against the hot pavement?
Thanks!

As your lovely Guides go barefoot during the summer months, at least, and as I too am barefoot much of the time. I wanted to remind you all of the possible danger of allowing them to travel across summer blacktop. Extremely hot blacktop has burned my bare feet. I assume the same occurs to your canine guides. I just wanted to remind you. Because, I don't know how many shod people think of the hazard hot blacktop causes those of us who don't wear shoes.
