Deanna, I'll be unable to call in for our meeting on the 14th.

Thanks for sending a summary of our meeting at the convention. Good idea to have a Gavel Committee that meets quarterly to gather information.

  Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in sending this out, things have been crazy busy! I want to send a brief recap of our 2014 Oagdu meeting at the NFB Convention. The Convention was great and we had a very productive Oagdu meeting on Saturday, November 1st. I tried to record the meeting on my Victor Stream for those who could not attend. I will have to make sure that it recorded properly and then send the file out to those who wish to listen to it.

We held the business part of the meeting first, discussing the Darden gift card fundraiser and also the Rada Cutlery fundraiser. We passed along the sample items that were ordered a few months ago, so that everyone got to see the quality and design of the products. I passed out the Rada Cutlery catalogs to members, and a website will be set up shortly, so that we can sell the products online. If you are interested in receiving a catalog, to show to people for sales, please let me know and I will mail one or more to you.

We set-up a Gavel Committee, committee members will meet quarterly to collect data for the Gavel Report. Oagdu won the Division Gavel Award this year (the second time since we formed this Division). Thank you all for getting out there and spreading the word about guide dogs, blindness, Oagdu, and the NFB. Let’s celebrate by becoming an even stronger Division next year!

Elections were held; Debbie Baker stepped down as Vice President, and Aleeha Dudley was elected as the new Vice President. Kathy Withman stepped down from her Board Member position and Megan Schief was elected as the new Board Member. Marianne Denning was also re-elected as Treasurer.

Jenine Stanley spoke about the Guide Dog Foundation’s training program and about TSA. After the meeting she was able to show a potential member what it feels like to walk with a guide dog.

Overall, a great meeting! We have 2 new members, Jenine Stanley and LuAnn Bowers. I love that we are growing and know that we have a lot of work to do this upcoming year. Please help this organization in any way that you can; speak to children, educate the public, support the fundraisers and sell the products. Thank you all for the hard work you do and for participating actively in our wonderful Division!

If you did not attend the meeting and have not yet paid dues, please do so as soon as possible. Dues are $5.00.

Our next conference call will take place on Sunday, December 14th at 7:00.

Please remember to send in your Darden Restaurant gift card tickets to me by December 15th. The drawing will take place on December 16th. See a separate email for me information on this fundraiser.

Again, thanks for all you do!

Deanna Lewis, President and her sidekick, Pascal
