If approved by voters, Proposition 1 would fund:
* 47% more local transit service
* More frequent service, with 86% of routes running more often
* Longer and later service, with 80% of service operating for more hours
* An 83% increase in weekend service
* New routes connecting communities across the Pierce Transit service area
* Fare-free rides for seniors age 65 and older on Pierce Transit buses and SHUTTLE
* Expanded paratransit service including later hours and new areas
* Special event service to help people get to and from community events
* Seasonal trolley service connecting people to popular waterfront destinations
* Expanded connections to major destinations and future light rail stations
Proposition 1 would be funded by changing Pierce Transit’s local sales tax rate from 0.6% to 0.9% — an increase of 3 cents on a $10 taxable purchase.
