HB 1207 would create various court filing fees. A portion of  the money from those fees would go to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State promises to use some of that money to prevent layoffs at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library (WTBBL). The reason WTBBL will have to layoff some staff is because President Trump cut off the library’s federal grant as of April 1.
 
We still need the state legislature to increase the state budget for WTBBL as part of the State Library.
 
Call The Legislative Hotline at 800-562-6000 <tel:800-562-6000>. Here’s what we want them to do:
1. Pass HB 1207, including the Part that would give some of that money to the Secretary of State.
2. Increase the State Library budget to $6.7 million to maintain Talking Book and Braille Library services.
