I have to agree that we gave it our best try and knowing that it is a short session and that how many times does legislation pass the first time it is out, we did a fantastic job with your leadership Marci. Please keep me in the loop for working on it next year. Betty

Marci and all,

I echo Bennett’s sentiments. You do a lot for the affiliate and we all appreciate it. This was a short session and the fact that we got this close that’s fantastic! I’ll help out anyway I can when it is time to start the process again.

You, Marci have done a tremendous amount of work on this bill, and it was almost over the finish line even during its first year of introduction to the legislators. It is so unusual that this legislation got so far so fast. I’m confident, that working together, we’ll get this passed next year in the longer legislative session. Good work on all our parts, by contacting our representatives and senators this year. And we certainly appreciate your efforts on behalf of all federationists in Washington and the blind of the state in general.

I thought it might’ve fallen under one of the exceptions to the cut off date but apparently it does not. Our fight for accessible prescription label law is not over. We will come back with another bill next year and the legislative supporters in the state House and Senate are committed to getting something passed. We will be also monitoring the state Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission closely since they do have a request from a blind person to issue rules on accessible prescription labels.

Like many of our legislative efforts, this one will take more than one year. We in the National Federation of the Blind know that we will keep working until we are successful.
