[NFBWATLK] question about long url in email

Hi,
When you come to a long string like that, just hit the control key and Jaws
will shut up. You can also go to
www.bitly.com
paste the stringy url into the blank field and you will get a shorter url
that is not so cumbersome.

There is bitly, budurl and some others that shorten urls.

PURRhaps when people are sending long gangly tedious urls, they could
shorten them before sending them to the list serv.
Thanks,
Lauren

How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is
full of your creatures.
Psalm 104:24
Yea! the audiobook version of "Jesus makes the difference:a collection of
stories for young people" is now available on iTunes and at audible . com

Subject: [NFBWATLK] question about long url in email

Reading the below email about the governor's committee reminded me of a
question I've had for a long time. Sometimes when a url is imbedded in an
email, it consists of a seemingly endless string of letters, numbers, equal
signs, and other special characters. I know these are the instructions to
get my browser where it needs to go on the web, but listening to the long
list of meaningless characters wastes time, breaks concentration, and is
just plain annoying. I'm glad those strings are there because sometimes
links with no url don't work and being able to paste the actual url into my
browser does work.

Can I have it both ways? Is there a way to tell Jaws not to read all that
stuff while still retaining the ability to use it if I need to? Jaws is so
flexible in its commands that there probably is a way to do what I want.
I'd appreciate it if someone could educate me.

Mary Ellen

.gov/GCDE?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery> (GCDE) wants to hear from
you.

The GCDE invites you to a public Town Hall Forum to discuss:

  *   Accessible housing.
  * Services for families in need.
  * Jobs for people with disabilities.
  *   Accessible transportation.
  * All other issues affecting people with disabilities, their families
and their advocates.

What: GCDE Town Hall Forum
When: 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11
Where: SonBridge Community Center, 1200 Southeast 12th Ave., College Place,
Washington

The day after the forum, the GCDE will take your top three or four concerns
straight to local elected officials, service providers and leaders in the
disability community to prioritize and strategize. But first - they need
your ideas.

"The Town Hall is an opportunity for members of the Walla Walla and College
Place communities to share their concerns and praise about services for
people with disabilities. We take those concerns to those who have the power
to affect change," said Damiana Harper, co-vice Chair of the GCDE's
Community Outreach Subcommittee.

The GCDE Community Outreach Subcommittee travels to two communities every
year. To read a summary of last year's forum in Longview, see the GCDE

Stemming from that forum, workgroups continue to meet to develop volunteer
opportunities to address gaps in community services.

  * Please limit your use of fragrances out of courtesy to those who have
allergies or are sensitive to smells.
  * The forum location is accessible. If you need sign language
