Hi,

Most people think that there couldn't possibly be any advantages to being
totally blind. However, from my experience being totally blind since birth,
I think there are some advantages:

Here are some I have thought of, not in any order of importance:

1:One can read whether in the light or the dark.

2:One can tell time in the light or the dark

3:The list above could become long, but the gist of it is that we are not
light-dependent about getting around or doing everything else so we do just
as well in the middle of the night with the lights off as in broad daylight.

4:One can feel/hear objects at facial level in the light or dark (posts,
trees, etc.)

5:We can tell our pets apart by sound and shape, which sighted people could
do, but many do not. Most go by sight only.

6:We cannot see some things out there that we really would not want to see,
such as road kill, strewn garbage, the details at a terrible accident, etc.

That is a good start. If we think of any more, we can add them.

Consider the flowers of a garden: though differing in kind, color, form
and shape, yet, inasmuch as they are refreshed by the waters of one spring,
revived by the breath of one wind, invigorated by the rays of one sun, this
diversity increaseth their charm, and addeth unto their beauty. ....
