MARCH

Dear Friend,
March is Save Vision Month
Vision loss is often one of those things we disregard thinking it will go away, that it’s unrelated to other health issues or it’s just the result of getting older and there’ nothing to be done about it.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Did you know that high cholesterol, thyroid problem, autoimmune diseases, stroke, diabetes and what’s referred to as a retinal migraine affects eyesight?
Sight Connection urges you to schedule a complete eye exam as soon as you experience a change in your eyesight regardless of what you think is the cause.

Our Favorite Things

Beginning with this issue, Sight Connection’s staff will showcase their favorite adaptive aid.
The constant companions for Retail Assistant Jennifer S., who herself is visually impaired, are the support cane ($29.75) and its accompanying support cane hook ($9.25). “This model of cane provides added stability to compensate for my balance issues. I love that it’s also reflective so easy to see in dark environments. The hook is just the best. It enables you to hang the cane on the back of a chair or on a counter without getting in the way when not using the cane.

What you may not know is that Sight Connection rents out used CCTVs on a monthly basis for as long as you would like. We also have many models of CCTVs that are on consignment by their owner once that person can no longer benefit from them.
Both of these options provide access to large screen, high contrast video monitors at an affordable price.
Inventory is always changing. Come visit our Assistive Technology Lab at our north Seattle location. Knowledgeable staff is always available to help match a machine with your situation.
