Hello all,

I am a frustrated parent of a lovely little 8 year old. She still has received no special education services yet in this school year. My frustrations are with the school and the state of Washington's lack of oversight and no advocates/attorneys that help homeless and low income families.

My daughter has an IEP that was reviewed in April when we moved here in July. I tried to register her in Bellevue but was then persuaded to register her in First Place Scholars a homeless public charter school. I did.
My daughter has a great teacher and I am working on finding permanent housing so I don't want to move her only to move her when I find somewhere to live.

I need support as a parent and get told daily that I need to hire an attorney. DRW has been of no help. They have referred me to what I already knew and are doing. I called the education ombudsman-nothing. I filled a citizens complaint. Not really helpful. I feel like there is no where to turn for help as in to fight to get the 400 minutes per week on her IEP. (We have not even had an IEP transfer meeting yet and she has been in school for months now.)

Many laws have and are being violated but no one helps the low income family fight for their child. Thanks for listening.

Kristina
