Dear Federationists,

It is with great sadness that I write to you tonight that long time Seattle chapter member and one-time, one person phone tree Vicki Blazon (formerly Nauratuk)  has suffered a major stroke. It happened on Monday night. She is in Northwest hospital and awake, but has complete paralysis on her left side. Vicki is a fighter, and I have no doubt that she will do everything possible to regain whatever functioning is possible. Mary Helen Scheiber and Jim Janney, good friends and neighbors of Vicki and her husband Robbie, are keeping me updated. They saw her Wednesday evening. She was able to speak but with some slurring of her speech. Right now her doctors want her to get as much rest as possible, so phone calls and visits should be put off for at least a few days.  She has a long road ahead of her.

I am sure she would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I will keep you informed of any updates.

Take care everyone,

Marci Carpenter

Secretary

Greater Seattle Chapter

National Federation of the Blind
