2nd Annual Overcoming Barriers to Employment for People with Disabilities
September 10, 2012

Once again Shoreline Community College, Northshore/Shoreline Community Network, DVR North Office, and the City of Shoreline invite you and your colleagues, customers, and clients to attend a summit for persons with disabilities seeking employment. This event is intended to provide tools for people with disabilities to obtain employment, and opportunities for employers to become more informed about hiring people with disabilities.
In the morning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the Overcoming Barriers to Employment summit will include workshops on Interview preparation, Job Search on the Internet, Accommodations in the Workplace, Successful Job Applications, Employer Benefits for Hiring Individuals with Disabilities, and Secrets & Techniques to Finding the Right Job for You.
In the afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. an Employment Resource Fair will be offered. There will be resource tables available for 25 businesses &/or service providers to offer job applications or assistance pursuing employment. If you are a business or service provider, consider this an opportunity to reach out to a group of people wanting to find employment. This would be a great opportunity for you to promote your organization and/or the services you offer as part of the Employment Resource Fair. If you are interested in representing your organization, please contact Barb Fiske, at (206) 546-5823.
If you are interested in attending the workshops, please sign up at: www.Brownpapertickets.com<http://www.Brownpapertickets.com>. If you need assistance with registration or to request accommodations, please call (206) 546-4545. This event is sponsored through a special DVR grant.
Last year there were over 90 participants at the event, and they were very pleased with the information that they learned. This year we would like to provide opportunities for the participants to have hands-on knowledge about employment opportunities and resources. Would you like to be a part of this exciting event?
