If you're interested in technology contact information and reviews of
products on the market, the NFB web site has a lot of resources. As for an
exhaustive list of everyone selling aids and appliances, that's a bit
difficult because people and organizations enter and leave the market
frequently. For example, eBay has aids and appliances offered for sale most
of the time, but, due to the auction format, and due to the fact that much
of what's available on eBay is offered as one of a kind (for instance used
technology the owner no longer wants) it's not possible to keep track or
create a permanent list of venders.

If you're thinking of building a list, I recommend including Braille
Superstore 2190 Dolphin Crescent Abbotsford BC V2T 3T1 1-800-987-1231
braillebooks.com. It's a company started by two brothers, Danny and Craig
Faris. They're both blind and began the company when they were in their
teens. Though it's a Canadian company, they do a lot of business in the
U.S. They've created some interesting software programs, including Talking
Typing Teacher, (I think that's its name.) They call their line of software
MarvelSoft. The thing I like best about the company is their focus on good
customer service.

Don't know whether you've done this already, but you might want to contact
places like the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. Perhaps put an
announcement on the Evergreen Radio Reading Service.

This reminds me. I've been asked to try to obtain a list of vendors of aids
and appliances, etc, for blind persons in the U.S. I wonder if someone has
developed an exhaustive list of such entities. Anyone on the list have any
ideas?

Thanks.

We're still looking for individuals who became blind (using the definition
of having visual acuity of light perception or worse) before the age of
three.

We've sent emails to you guys and WCB but we're still short of subjects who
meet all our fussy criteria.

I was wondering if anyone had some good ideas about other places we can try
to recruit?

Suggestions really welcome
