Hi Janice,
My name is Marci Carpenter. I am a member of the National Federation of the Blind; Greater Seattle chapter. I'm so glad you found our list and that you are reaching out. I think I and my colleagues can offer you and your fiancé a lot of support and information. We do many things: share ideas about techniques about doing things as a blind person, helping blind people get the services and benefits they need, educating newly blinded people, their families, and the general public about the capabilities of blind people.
The most important thing I can say here is that your fiancee can live a productive and happy life, and so can you.
I would be happy to talk with either or both of you in more detail. My phone number is 206-933-7971, and my e-mail address is mjc59 at q.com. Right now I am home both daytime and in the evening.
There are ways for blind people to live independently and happily. There is much hope.
yours respectfully,
Marci Carpenter
