The Washington State Employment Security Department is seeking an Unemployment Insurance Tax and Wage Legislation and Legal Process Manager.
We need someone to coordinate and track legislation, research and respond to legislative developments, and to follow-up with and implement new legislation that impacts unemployment insurance. This position also manages and oversees our agency's tax appeals and coordinates settlements and other legal issues with the Attorney General of Washington.

Unemployment Insurance Tax and Wage Legislation and Legal Process Manager Unemployment Insurance Division
(1) Full-time position
Salary range WMS 3 ($negotiable annually DOQ)

The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Tax and Wage Administration is seeking a Legislation and Legal Process Manager to provide advice, analysis, and policy recommendations to the Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) and management on legislative issues of state-wide, industry-wide, and national significance; such as state and federal legislation and legal issues relating to unemployment taxes. This position works with the Special Assistant for the UI Tax and Wage Administration to:
1. Identify, develop, draft, analyze, review, and implement proposed state
legislation on unemployment taxes;
2. Analyze agency administrative rules and policies, and draft and
implement tax rules; and
3. Review and manage the tax appeals process, including coordination with
the Attorney General's Office.
This position advises and assists the DAC on federal regulations and legislation, national and state business taxation proposals, agency tax policy, legal interpretations, and compliance issues. In addition, the Legislation and Legal Process Manager implements administrative projects, systems, and/or procedures as needed in compliance with the laws and public policies relating to the department. Other duties include writing, revising, and editing internal and external documents, forms, and other communications.
