New Bookshare Final Announcement
More accessible, easier to use, more books than ever

Dear Bookshare Member:

Get ready, get set! We're on the countdown before the new Bookshare!
After final testing and finishing touches, we plan to launch very
soon. Thank you for your patience! In addition to a completely new
look, the new library has an abundance of new accessibility features
and functionality to make it easier than ever for you to get the books
you want.

This email has five important announcements about the launch. Please
take the time to read them all.

1. Beginning on Thursday, January 8 at 10:30 pm PT, some activities on
the existing site temporarily will not work. You can download books
and after launch see your downloads in your new book history. But,
don't make any changes to your account, such as changing your
password. Changes will not be recorded. Volunteers, please do not
download or submit scanned and proofread books. Watch for messages
with more details from our volunteer coordinator.

2. The first time you visit the new site, you'll be asked a couple of
questions in a Wizard and shown a Table of Contents guiding you to
lots of information about what's new. Please plan to spend a few
minutes reviewing the information so you get the full benefit of the
new library.

3. We have a full schedule of webinars to help you learn about the new
Bookshare. Please visit the Training page in Help at
www.bookshare.org/about/training (The link will work when the site is
live. Copy and paste the URL into your browser.)

4. Your access technology hardware will need an upgrade to work with
the new unzip functionality. Be sure to find the contact information
in the Wizard Table of Contents so you can contact your vendor for the
upgrade.

5. Please read the instructions about unzipping books and the new
DAISY readers, Victor Reader Soft and READ:OutLoud in Help,
Downloading Books FAQ, Troubleshooting section at
www.bookshare.org/about/downloadingBooksFAQ#Troubleshooting
(The link will work when the site is live. Copy and paste the URL into
your browser.)
