Dear Colleagues,

There is a full time TVI position available in the Longview School
District in beautiful Southwest Washington. This program is dear to my
heart as I have nurtured it from its infancy for almost 30 years.
Longview School District is known around the state for its supportive
staff and innovative special education programs. 

 

The Program for Visually Impaired is a well established program. We have
3 very capable support staff who have completed the requirements for the
State Braille Certification. Our students range from preschool to high
school and multihandicapped, self-contained to academic, general
education. We also coordinate closely with our county, non-profit birth
to 3 program. We feel very lucky to have families who are very
supportive and involved in their children's education. 

 

Our Special Education director is providing the opportunity for a smooth
transition. He is committed to assisting you by hiring for a full time
TVI position beginning the last week of August 2008. However, we have
the option of working in tandem until the end of January 2009. At that
time you will assume full responsibility for the program.

 

Longview has many advantages. It is a beautiful, small town with an
explosion of flowering trees each spring, a jewel of a lake with a
walking/biking path, affordable housing prices, a Community College and
easy access to I-5. In addition, Portland, Oregon, Mt. St. Helens, and
the Pacific beaches are all within a one hour drive. It is truly a
beautiful area.
