April 5, 2008 Meeting
In attendance (19): April 5, 2008 Meeting called to order at 1:00 p.m. Kyle announced that the Washington Assistance Technical Foundation representative was unable to attend the meeting but arrangements will be made for them to attend in May or June. Millie provided the treasurer’s report: 24 paid up members.

Have given 3 Electronic Video Magnifiers away as well as 6-8 handheld magnifying glasses which indicate the organization is fulfilling a need in the community.

Kyle spoke with a gentleman in Olympia who is interested in the activities of our group as he is trying to get a chapter going in Olympia . The Veterans Administration is giving him equipment that they are unable to re-issue. That may be an avenue we might consider pursuing.

Kyle is speaking with City Council regarding pedestrian access issues. Article was in the paper last week. Progress is being made. Kyle will be attending the next meeting with the NFB statute regarding pedestrian issues.

Respectfully submitted, Mary K. Schwetz, Secretary

Presentation
Sherron and Kyle went to the Fifth Avenue Retirement apartments on Thursday, April 17, 2008 to speak to residents about VIPS and the Vision Loss Center . We showed them devices talking computer and newspaper as well as magnifiers and monocular. They already have a CCTV there. There was a great turnout and we have 4 persons whom will benefit from various appliances and aids we will set up for them. Lessons on how to use the CCTV were requested and will be set up for the future.
