I'm sick of web sites that make us provide phone numbers where a "customer care" representative must contact us before we can sign up for and log in to a web site. This is of course because of the image and word the sighted have to use to somehow get security clearance3 or whatever to be able to sign up. We can't read it, so they have someone call us, sometime. MSN did this, and never returned my calls. Now, Yahoo wants me to do this to sign up on one of its sites. the message reads:
"Attention Blind or Visually Impaired Users: To complete this form you must enter a word that is part of an image. If you can't read the image, Yahoo is
happy to help you create your account. A representative from customer care will need to contact you. To request assistance with registration, please read
the Yahoo! Terms of Service located at
http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/.
Once you have reviewed our policies, please provide your phone number and email address and send your request by visiting this URL -
http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/edit/cgi_accessV." Not only are we *required to reaqd their terms of service, which no sighted person is required to do, because after all there might be some more instructions we need to know before using the web site as blind users, but we've got to talk with someone, which no sighted person has to do either.). It makes me feel like I've got to wait by the phone before their representative calls. I have no idea when that might be. So, I may not sign up. Or, I might just do what it asks to see what happens, then consider my options. (grin.)

Thanks for letting me vent. And, now that I think about it, if it's a nice person that calls, ... well!

Have a *great Saturday.
