Fellow Federationists:

I want to thank all of you for your hard work over the past two weeks to
gain cosigners to Congressman Towns' "Dear Colleague" letter in support
of full funding for the Talking Books program. When the letter was
closed on Monday, eighty-seven members of the House of Representatives
were listed as supporting full funding. I have listed all cosigners
below. If your member of Congress is on this list, please call and
thank him or her for supporting this important program. You can be
connected with your member of Congress by calling the capitol
switchboard at (202) 225-3121.

We will need to be prepared to take quick action as this process moves
forward. The next step will be to mark-up the FY 2009 Legislative
Appropriations bill. We will most likely have less than five days
notice of this hearing, so we should be prepared to make phone calls to
the members of this subcommittee and urge them to vote for an
appropriation of $25.7 million to continue the conversion to a digital
format. I will let all of you know about this hearing as soon as I can.

Once again, thanks to all of you.

Sincerely,

Jesse Hartle
