Seattle Great City Initiative Brownbag Lunch Forum:
 Better Options for Local Transit

March 13, 2008
12-1:30
Triad Urban Center
NW Corner of Third and Cherry

While most of our transportation debate recently has focused on big regional infrastructure issues, there are also interesting new proposals for local transit networks designed to connect Seattle neighborhoods to each other. The Seattle Streetcar Alliance has ideas for an expanded streetcar network. And we voted to fund Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Seattle by approving the Transit Now Ballot Measure in 2006. Both streetcars and BRT are intended to provide a new level of service that will make local transit more appealing to users. Please join the Seattle Great City Initiative for a discussion on local streetcar and BRT plans from folks who should be "in the know."

Guests include:

Jack Lattemann, Transportation Planner, King County Metro, will update us on Bus Rapid Transit plans for North Aurora, Ballard and West Seattle.

James Kelley, President of the Urban League and proponent for a streetcar network.

James Coney, of Queen Anne and the Uptown Alliance, on a proposal for a new streetcar line linking South Lake Union, Queen Anne, Fremont and Ballard.

The lunch forum series connects those who care about Seattle's future with the ideas, leaders, and innovators critical to making Seattle a thriving and sustainable city. Bring your lunch, and come learn, discuss and be inspired.

Please RSVP to Allison Burson allison.burson at greatcity.org to help us plan how to set up the space to comfortably accommodate everyone.

In addition to the brownbag lunch Thursday, we will the third forum in our What it Takes Forum Series on housing on Tuesday, March 18th.
