Subject: Vandalism on Campus
This past weekend and the weekend before vandalism occurred on campus
(late Saturday morning and early Saturday afternoon). Rob Tracey has
met with Police Officers and we have good pictures from our security
system which the Police will be using to follow up on this incident.
Channel 2 - from the Portland/Vancouver area will also cover this on the
local news this evening at 6:00 pm. The vandals appeared to be
elementary/middle school age. Damage included: a broken window in the
Childcare Center, they attempted to start a fire in the lift van in the
back parking lot, and they crawled up on the roof of Hall Cottage once
they noticed that a camera was pointed towards the Childcare center.
Total damages are estimated at $2,000 or more.
One of the school's goals is to continue to upgrade video surveillance
equipment, install additional motion detection lighting sources, and is
exploring options for weekend surveillance. Generally we have not had a
lot of vandalism on campus and we believe that both weekends may have
been the same individuals.
