[nfbwatlk] A Molehill Turned into A Mountain?

There may be a breath of fresh air here. If indeed Kay had her cane tucked
in her cart and it was not noticed by the employee, then it proves that one
does not have to be blind to receive rude treatment at the hands of
untrained, unsupervised and unkind clerks.
As I age, I notice that I have become less tolerant of crude, rude behavior.
While I believe that retail clerks are terribly underpaid, and I loudly
advocate for a much higher wage minimum, nonetheless they took the job, and
they accepted the lousy pay. So I expect them to treat me exactly as I
treat them. With dignity and respect. If they can't do that, then I will
tell them, and their boss.
In our work, Cathy and I travel around 4 counties. We eat in many different
towns and in many different restaurants. There are several eateries that we
will never return to because of the rude or indifferent service. But in
every case we make certain that the owners or managers know why we are not
returning. If we don't speak up, how can we expect them to make
improvements? But I rarely have felt that the poor treatment we received
was due to my blindness.
