I think that we will find very few, if any hotels that could serve our
group for less than $90.00 to $100.00 per room. That is considered very
inexpensive in today's market. Most hotels that have conference rooms
start at closer to $150.00 a night and that is considered a good deal.
Out of the way places might have a little cheaper fare than a bigger
city, but transporting a larger number of us to that sight would
eliminate any savings.
Having said that, I know that money is tight for some and no matter what
the costs it is a burden. Sadly it appears that for at least the near
future help from our state chapter will be minimal. So what do we do?
Andrea's suggestion of putting four in a room versus two would save each
person a lot of money and would be an option if needed. When I was in
my early really poor days we used to get a room and split the box
springs and mattress so more could sleep, now I am not recommending
that, it was not very comfortable, but that was the only way we could
afford to participate.
Knowing that there will be at least one state conference a year planning
a little and if at all possible saving $5.00 a month would help.
I guess if it means something it will happen even if it means giving up
something to save a little.
My observation from reading the list is that we all want a strong state
chapter, with new members and lots of money. I think that would take
all of our dedication and a willingness to put in some time and make
some sacrifices.
Hopefully we are all willing to do that.
