[nfbwatlk] Extreme Home Make-over

I don't know, I thought that Three Wishes did a great job all things
considered. We need more feel-good shows that show blind people doing
exciting things besides playing music. I have no problem with blind
musicians or publicizing them, but there's always that stereotype, and music
is often the first thing people think of when they think of exciting things
that blind people do. Plus, Three Wishes also highlighted the NFB, which is
important and an excellent rehabilitation tool for any blind person.

Thanks for posting this letter Mike.
Emotions trump intellect every time.
Your reference to Queen for a Day is exactly on target. Touchy Feely Shows
warm millions of hearts and bring tears to their eyes. Just try pointing
out the negative impact upon blind people through such productions and watch
a warm, fuzzy, loving crowd turn into an angry, snarling mob.
If we can't find ways to head off these do-gooder-for-profit shows, and we
can't, then perhaps we can find a way of turning them to our advantage. I
just haven't figured out how we can do that yet.
